Hello! My name is Benny Anderson.

I'm a sculpture artist and 2022 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. I was born in Hidalgo, Mexico, and spent time living in Istanbul and Paris before moving to Maryland when I was nine, then New Orleans post-college.
Growing up, I was always drawn to bright colors, mythical creatures, and soft textures. I created monsters in my head, drew them out over and over on scrap paper, then reclaimed them as my new imaginary friends.

Honestly, not much has changed.

My art pulls from childhood memories and notions of play, and I intend to create a space for people to feel that wonder without embarrassment or self-consciousness. Through explorations in mask making, costume, papier-mâché, crayons, markers, and an abundance of unconventional materials, I'm excited to share my happiness with the world.

No one is ever too old to play, and I will continue to create art that allows for that engagement to take place.
